Owned since 2000. Car sold new about 1 year after it was built, by Knopf Porsche, Allentown, PA, where I lived in 1989. Normally Aspirated 2,7 liter 226,000 mile street daily driver which I purchased in September 2000. After being without a Porsche since my then I-class 1984 944 PCA Club Racer was totaled in a street accident driving to an instructor’s school at Rockingham Raceway, in summer of 1997, I bought this car without intention to own it for a long time. Finally T aken off the road in 2018, and completely disassembled, it is under restoration. A 944 built twice. Once in Nekarsulm, DE and once in Langhorne, USA. This car drove the 5 Yanowsky children to school and ice hockey practice and games around Pittsburgh; to swim meets in western Pennsylvania; driven 4 seasons of the year with snow tires and summer tires in Altoona, PA. 3 Porsche car seats with kids and Dad driving over the River and through the woods to Grandmother’s house or the Baltimore Aquarium, etc. folding stroller; diaper bag in the back… While I was negotiating on purchase of a new 2016 6-cylinder Cayman to replace this car (yes, I should have bought it anyway), and hearing of my pending sports car change, my oldest daughter said “you can’t sell that car, we grew up in it”; and soon the restoration began. We will dyno to measure wheel horsepower when complete; Extrude honed intake, tubular equal-length headers, CP Carrillo rods, 3 inch exhaust. Equipped with The Machine Shop manual steering. George at 944Ecology rebuilt the driveshaft. White, powder-coated 16” phone dials painted white pearl metallic for a Practical Finish and sharp Turbo Cup appearance. The finished restored car would be as I would have ordered it if I could right after I graduated mechanical engineering school.
