2002 Boxster S

Color: Cobalt Blue Metallic
From: Suncoast Florida
Owner: Sharron and Danny Shields

A PCA friend chose Cobalt Blue Metallic when ordering this Boxster S from Reeves Import Motorcars. He was granted Florida tag "BLUEY" and the name stuck, even as the car moved to the Shields family in late 2003. Cobalt Blue Metallic was not a "paint to sample" color on a 2002 Boxster, but rather, a "special" color. The Boxster was offered in a standard range of four solid (no charge) and eight metallic (extra cost) colors. Color samples for those were included in the sales brochure, which also noted, "Should your individual tastes lead you down the path less traveled, a selection of special colors is also available." Cobalt Blue Metallic came from this special group. At a price of $3050, the blue hue was the single most expensive option on this car, exceeding even the price of the aluminum hard top.
