1972 Porsche 914 SCCA E Production Race Car. This was a street 914 and converted into a race car in the mid-1980s. Raced on the west coast, this car is a former SCCA regional EP championship car and once held the lap record at Sears Point Raceway. The last time it was raced, before restoration, was the year 2000. Interesting history since last raced: It was parked, and the story included a divorce, someone died, and the body and drivetrain went in different directions. In the fall of 2019, the car was found by its current owner on Craigslist San Francisco. Being part of club racing in NorCal, the CL ad was shown to a friend and he said that the car was built by someone he knew and we should call him. We dialed the phone and the original owner answered. I asked about his 914 and he said, “You found my car!" Four weeks and many calls later, the builder/owner arranged the sale, which included the lost drivetrain. Many long hours for this 3.5 year restoration, and many thanks to RF Racing Services and Frank Zucchi Restorations.
